Does carcinoid syndrome show up in blood work?

Carcinoid syndrome can be indicated by abnormal blood work showing elevated levels of serotonin and its metabolites, particularly 5-HIAA in the urine. Additionally, chromogranin A levels may also be assessed to detect neuroendocrine tumors, although these tests alone do not confirm the syndrome.
