Dr. Asif Uddin

Dr Uddin's approach was inviting and efficient.  I appreciated his own experience and expertise and his quick but thorough explanation and openness.

I just paid $400 to spend only one hour trying to unpack my life and get my medication adjusted. Instead I felt like I was talked “at” not talked “to”, and that because I’ve been on a controlled substance (with no issues) for over 25 years, I am an addict. So I’m basically out $400 that I didn’t have in the first place. Also he suggested I max the dose of a medication I’ve been on forever but it “could cause weight gain”…dude I’ve been on a diet and lost 70Pounds in a year. I do NOT want to gain it back. I’m not too jazzed. Honestly. 

I can't express how disappointed I am with my experience at KC Psychiatrists. Asif Uddin, my appointed psychiatrist, was inattentive, rushed me through the session, and didn't listen to a single thing I had to say. I felt unheard and less than valued as a patient. To add insult to injury, the bill that I received was exorbitant. The overcharges were completely unexpected and left me feeling swindled. This was a highly unsatisfactory experience and I do not recommend KC Psychiatrists or Asif Uddin to anyone seeking quality mental health care.

Dr. Uddin is a wonderful psychiatrist! This was my first time seeing a psychiatrist and I was nervous, but he and his assistant put me at ease. He asked great questions and listened to my concerns. He did a great job explaining my options and made sure I was comfortable with our plan. 

The doctor and the staff just make you feel at home when you walk in it's a great place

Dr. Uddin has been excellent with our family. Yes i said family. Jessica has such a kind heart. She will never make you feel like a bother even when you know you are a bother and will always be there to help in whatever you need. 

I switched to Dr. Uddin a few months ago and I couldn’t be happier. I had been seeing a psychiatrist who wouldn’t even bother to look at my chart before appointments. He asked what my job was, if I was married, if I had kids, etc. at every single appointment. I left every appointment feeling worse than whe. I came it. Dr. Uddin actually listens and takes time to get to know his patients’ lives.  I actually feel optimistic after appointments now. 

I've been meeting with Dr. Uddin for about 6mo now and can't recommend him highly enough. I feel listened to and cared for by him and am am confident in him as a practitioner.

Going on seven months since I had my first appointment with Dr. Uddin.  He never ceases to amaze me.  Thorough analysis of my conditions.  Genuine concern after a recent set back on my job loss (my store closed); another recent move.  I had some trouble with my pharmacy.  All I had to do was leave a voicemail message and within an hour it was called in to a different pharmacy that had my medication (the other one did not).  Another great conversation with his understanding and caring assistant, Jessica.  I can't emphasize more, the sincere concern for my mental and physical health by Dr. Uddin and his assistant.  They are stuck with me for life!  Before my first appointment, I was in a very dark place.  Dr. Uddin had given me hope and to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Dr. Uddin is a great listener and provides great guidance and insights.

Particularly at my age, I have seen a number of psychiatrists over the years.  

Dr. Uddin is phenomenally sharp, and knows meds encyclopedically.  Too, he is dual-certified in both psychiatry and internal medicine.  As such, his feedback and advice is far more encompassing - and valuable.  Obviously, I strongly recommend him.

I just want to give a quick shout out to Jessica and Dr. Uddin. These two consistently go above and beyond for their patients. You really get a sense of genuine care when working with these two. If you’re looking for a great psychiatrist in the KC area, look no further. The quality of care here in unmatched.  

If I could give zero stars I would, but unfortunately 1 star is the bottom limit that this site will allow me to post.

Dr. Uddin was my psychiatric provider, briefly, during his residency. He wrote a quote in my chart that was something I NEVER said, and then made a faulty diagnosis based on those words that I never said - for a condition that psychiatrists don't even treat, therapists do. When I saw this, I was concerned and followed up with my therapist about this diagnosis, which enraged Dr. Uddin and he stormed out of the office during our 3rd meeting and I had to have several talks with his attending physician who picked up the pieces from his awful treatment of me and refusal to consider that he had made a mistake in - again, I repeat for emphasis - putting something in my chart that I never said, after meeting me once for 15 minutes, and his notes were timestamped 2 hours after I had seen him so he clearly entered it from memory and made it up as he typed it, and then used that made up quote to justify a diagnosis for a condition that is treated in therapy, a condition my therapist (who i met with for 50 minutes every week for 2 years, and who has been a practicing psychologist for nearly 20 years vs Dr. Uddin being in his residency at the time, that is LITERALLY IN TRAINING and asserting that his expertise was greater than hers on a condition that is actually more within her scope of practice) says that not only do I not have, but that is a gross misdiagnosis. When confronted he threw a tantrum and stormed out of the office, but only after waffling through contradictory excuses such as "it was a typo" yet refusing to amend the chart for his admitted typo.

Dealing with Dr. Uddin's outburst disrupted the care I was seeking as my appointments became about managing his emotional response rather than seeing me as a patient(this is not an assumption, there was a 1 hour visit for his education as a resident where i met with him to discuss my concern but was not billed due to it being about his training, not about my treatment). 

Not only did he do that, but when he took over my care (due to being seen by the teaching hospital where he was a resident, my care team changed every year as residents rotated through clinicals) he arbitrarily changed me off of a drug I had been on for 2 years because he just preferred the other drug, and the drug he switched me to was a different class than the drug it was replacing - and that drug class caused horrible side effects for me that landed me in the hospital for a full week.

Avoid this practitioner at all costs. It has taken 2 years to get back on track with my care after the work that needed done correcting his negligence. This man has no business being trusted for your mental health care.

Dr. Uddin listens actively and seeks to provide individualized care.His directives and care have improved my quality of life. My only complaint is that I didn't start seeing him sooner.

He spends time, asks questions, and listens. He shows concern for overall health and making certain that his prescribed treatment will be truly beneficial in the long run.

I believe that Dr. Uddin saved my husband's life.  I would recommend him to anyone struggling with anxiety and depression, or other serious mental health issues. He has truly vast knowledge, and he really understands the devastation that mental health issues can bring. My husband has come back to himself thanks to Dr. Uddin's care. His unique office structure (it's just him and his very kind assistant, Jessica, who actually answers the phone and returns calls!) takes the stress out of making appointments and dealing with prescriptions.  Don't wait around if you are on the fence. For us, his help was life-changing.

Had a really pleasant experience with the manager a while back  here  and wanted to thank her from me and my husband. She was so responsive, went out of the way to answer every question and never made me us feel like we were being a pest. There was no pressure. I will include that out of 8 psychiatrists offices , no one but her called us back. Highly recommend giving them a go We sure did Breath of fresh air when it comes to a doctors office caring. 

I highly recommend going to see Dr. Uddin and assistant Jessica. there's a pool of reasons why but mainly due to the passion they have for us patients. the responsiveness is so so great from them both of the 2. you meet Dr uddin , you will know what I mean. he is giving his full attention to you for the entire appointment, not making you feel like a bother 
Jessica is such a pleasant young lady, she's so encouraging and insightful. i do not like zoom calls with them because I prefer to go in to see them both in person because I just I always leave feeling confident and secure that I have found a spot for psychiatric and primary  medicine that I trust with my life , soon my kids will be adults in his care, my friends. point is whatever you are going through, I think you might be able to benefit from seeing him. I  hope he continues being my doctor for a long time ! #1 recommendation 

Dr. Uddin is very knowledgeable. He validated my experiences and helped me understand challenges and next steps.
