Dr. Howard Baruch, MD

Dr. Baruch performed my arthroscopic surgery to repair my knee. He explained the procedure thoroughly and answered all our questions. On the day of surgery he held my hand until I was under anesthesia, then visited me after to let me know everything was fine. His office scheduled me quickly and was able to get insurance authorizations timely. 

I haven’t met him yet and think of him as a selfish money hungry dr. Mom is in excruciating pain that she can’t walk two steps to the restroom and he refuses to call me back after leaving him 2 messages, to give me a brief detail of what she has to know what to do until we see him a week later to discuss the results. Very rude. Very inconsiderate. He shouldn’t be a dr. Will never step foot in his office. Horrible.  

Dr. Howard Baruch is the most disrespectful and insensitive doctor ever! My aunt saw him for her knee. He recommended knee surgery for my aunt but told her he will not do the surgery and began to fat shame her. She only went to him ONCE and he had no prior knowledge of her medical issues other than an MRI of my aunts knee. I work in the medical field and thankfully know many great doctors. Dr. Baruch is very far from being a great doctor due to his horrible bedside manner. Very disappointing having doctors like him fat shaming patients especially without any prior knowledge of the struggles he/she may be going through. I absolutely do not recommend this doctor. 

Dismissive and disrespectful. We saw Dr. Baruch for my 16 year-old's knee injury--after waiting nearly an hour in the waiting room. She is a varsity soccer player who was anxious to get back to full play. Dr. Baruch ruled out major tears--which we appreciated--and then dismissed our follow-up questions with: "It's just a boo-boo." When we asked him to elaborate, he repeated this, louder. He authorized her for return to play after 1 week, no physical therapy, MRI, or even recommended stretches. Day 1 of practice, she aggravated the injury. Do not recommend. We are seeing another doctor.

I have had replacements on both my hips in the last 8 months.  Dr. Baruch was awesome!  He explained exactly what the procedure entailed, took his time, answered all my questions and made me feel at ease. After surgery he called me at home to check on me before he went on vacation!  I have been to four of his offices in the past year and all the staff in every office were polite, friendly and accommodating. Thank you to Dr. Corradino for going above and beyond while on her vacation.

Is there an option less than 1 star? This "doctor" does not take the appropriate time allotted to explain procedures. Not the friendliest either.

Dr. Baruch treated me on a few post-op visits and he was so kind, compassionate and caring! If I could give him 10 Stars I would! I would most definitely recommend him to any and all of my friends and family! 

Dr. Baruch assumed responsibility for my case when the surgeon who repaired my complex ankle fracture left his practice. He recommended a second (unnecessary) surgery to correct a minor error. After obtaining a second opinion from a highly trusted orthopedic surgeon it was clear that Dr. Baruch was funneling business to his surgical center in Bloomfield. He became nasty and spiteful (by not giving a PT scrip) when asked to consult with the other Dr.

I went with an ACL injurey. He refused to do the sergury and instead of recomeding some one else to do it, he exhusted my 30 sessions of physical theary a year that I have in my insurance policy. neverthless in the 3- 4 times I visisted him, he never talked to me. I was always seen by his DA's and they talked to him then come back with whatever he said. 

Hardly any wait time, clean new office with updated technology. Dr Baruch took his time in thoroughly explaining all my options while going through all the pros and cons.

I would begin this recommendation by telling you about Dr. Baruch's expertise, but before that, I want to recommend Dr. Baruch as a Human. Because that's what he is, first and foremost, a Human. A caring and amazing individual who goes beyond his role to help everyone. His kindness and empathy towards patients is something I haven't encountered elsewhere. And not just towards patients—nurses, medical staff, Dr. Baruch sees and treats everyone as equals, speaking to them at eye level. And now, I'll recommend Dr. Baruch as a physician. When Dr. Baruch is your doctor, the system works for you. This doctor managed miraculously to navigate through all the bureaucratic hurdles surrounding my treatment and hospital stay. Additionally, he visited me at the hospital regularly, and throughout the process, he kept a close watch on my well-being to ensure I received the highest level of medical care. I don't know where I'd be today, And  thank you for the lesson he taught me in being a good human!

I came in with the complaint that my low back pain did not allow me to do cardio exercise. The doctor started his speech with the forcefull suggestion that I should lose weight. I am 190, not 400. But that should not matter, as the doctor’s Ph. D. is in Orthopaedics, not in nutrition or metabolism. The doctor pressed more, that he recently lost weight and therefor he was presuming himself in a position to tell me to stop eating. I told him that he was engaging in bullying and his advice was unprofessional, unsolicited and scientifically wrong, as starving messes up metabolism and one should not be giving any advice without analyzing my medical history, exercise and eating habits. I would not advise anyone to solicit his services. Even if one is rail thin, I would not rely on his expertise, courtesy  and professionalism. 

Highly recommended Dr Baruch. Excellent doctor, friendly staff in Union city location 

Dr. Baruch is simply worth travel cross GW or Lincoln tunnel and leave thousands of "famed" doctors in NYC. He is an exceptionally competent doctor and a surgeon. He has been my doctor over two decades. His diagnosis is always accurate and more importantly he is truly a gifted surgeon. My father had a knee replacement at the age of 80 and if it wasn't Dr. Baruch, he wouldn't be where he is at now, pain free and full access of mobility, absolutely the best outcome anyone can hope for. He just operated me on my serious tear and it went super well with such a professionalism. Highly recommend Dr. Baruch for all your orthopedic needs. Thank you.

He treated my aunt terribly. Very disrespectful man. There is no reason for a profesional like him to make jokes about a patient’s pain. Don’t work in the medical field if this is the attitude you are going to have. Do not recommend. He should be a last option when looking for an orthopedic doctor.

I had an appointment with Dr. Baruch and I am honestly very disappointed. He was very unprofessional and I don't even think 1 star is the appropriate rating; he deserves 0 stars. I had an X-Ray done and he did not bother to tell me the results. Instead he saw me for 2 minutes and left the room. I did not realize that my consult was finished because he just walked away. I understand that we are in a pandemic and that doctors do not want to spend too much time with patients for their own safety but I do not think 2 minutes with a patient is appropriate either. I have a lot of pain and his sarcastic comment was very rude. I do not recommend this doctor to anyone. If you are looking for an orthopedic doctor, please look somewhere else.

He hasn't heard entirely what my health issue was and instead in a minute time, my appointment with him was over. The Englewood staff hasn't sent the prescription to the location I preferred and I had to call them up again to do so.

When I first met Dr. Baruch he was kind, respectful and most of all caring and continues to be everytime I have an appointment. On the day of my surgery, Dr. Baruch and his staff took excellent care of me. I trust and respect Dr. Baruch and that is something that is not easy for me. I will recommend him to family and friends.  Thank you Dr. Baruch for making me feel safe.

Do not, go to this doctor and I am using that term loosely. I had my knee replacement a little over a year ago and had a fall day after. The follow up was horrific. I was ignored, berated and completely condescended to. They tried to make me feel needy and useless. Well I just had My revision the damage was so extensive and hope that is only surgery I need so much damage to my back. Please go somewhere else, this doctor and the hospital he works at should start to be held accountable for their negligence! It's unfathomable to me!

A complete disgrace to to the medical field. The doctor did a butcher job which is causing multiple complications to my mothers Knee replacement and is now being a complete unprofessional negligent doctor on the follow up to his own work.

Do not trust this doctor with a loved one or yourself. More consequences for his ridiculous antics.

All doctors are heroes when everything goes right. What about when things go Wrong? Terribly Wrong!
For me, after Baruch performed a total hip replacement, smiles were everywhere.... for about 2 months.
Then my hip dislocated. Frantic calls to his office went unanswered. Rushed to hospital. 
Baruch blamed me and ordered me to put on a hip cast. Expensive. 
Continued to see him though, because he's a doctor.
5 years later after smiles slowly drifted away and pain in the hip was getting worse, all the while his xrays showed him zilch. Nada. Probably barometric pressure, his office claimed.
THEN
Excruciating pain, Hip dislocated again. Deja Vu. No calls answered.
TWICE. No Baruch. (seeing a pattern?)
This time in hospital for 2 months. No Baruch. Just me, on my back, dislocated hip, pain meds. Lots of pain meds.
Finally another doctor came to the rescue. Fixed it and explained that the hip cup was installed incorrectly. Stated Former doc  had me walking around on a hip that was partially dislocated for years, asking how I was able to stand the pain.  An infection in the leg and hip from his operation caused deterioration of the skin and was the only thing holding my leg together at the end. Infection still pops up and the only alternative, other than beating the infection with massive antibiotic treatments is to have everything taken out and a new operation. Ouch. 

Baruch missed all that. But, all the while Happily collected his copays and billed the insurance. Made a small fortune. Couldn't afford a Get Well card.

When you pick a doctor, make sure he's competent. Check with former patients. Not just the ones where everything went as planned. But, the ones where it didn't. 
Was the doctor caring enough to come to the aid? 
Was he competent to find the error. 
Did he CARE? 
Even now, will he even admit the errors (I do have proof). Will he at least give me the information of his med malpractice insurance? Yeah I'd like some compensation. 
The original operation was in 2009. The revision was in 2015, I had two operations for the infection in 2018, all while undergoing antibiotic treatments.  Jobs and opportunities lost. Betcha his waiting room is still backed up with unaware patients throwing their copays his way. 

Misplaced the hip portion of a total hip replacement. I didn't know for years, though. I had two dislocations. Each time I made frantic calls to his office. It's scary shit.
Not once did he bother to answer the call or return the call. 
The first time I was rushed to the hospital and they performed a reduction (popped the leg back in). 
Follow-ups to Dr. Baruch were made. Co-payments demanded as soon as I got to his office where the appointment time was not really true. Waiting each time hours. Even though I complained of pain on several occasions nothing was done. 
The 2nd dislocation happened while I started to get up from my picnic table in my yard. Calls again to Dr. Baruch went unanswered and unreturned.  This time was pain. 
I was rushed to the hospital where I was put on serious pain killers. A reduction attempt failed. 
Hospital made attempts to contact Dr. Howard Michael Baruch. No response. I lay on my back unable to move because my leg wasn't attached to the rest of my hip.
No doctor wants to take another doctor's patients, especially after the 1st doctor screwed up.
There I lay, pain meds every 4 hours, for over 6 weeks until a Ortho agrees to take my case. He reported to me at the time that he finally did contact Baruch who said to him, You can take it. Nice, huh?
2 months after the dislocation I finally was able to have a Revision. They had to rebuild the hip portion.
But, found another Baruch error. The doctor reported that I had to be walking on a dislocated hip for years and the only thing holding the leg in was dead skin, the result of an infection that was in my hip.
I am now dealing with one of two outcomes. Reoccurring infections with antibiotic treatments. Sometime I have had to have a PICC line put in. OR, have the whole hip replacement taken out. Then my leg would be filled with antibiotic beads of some sort for up to a month. Fun
I opted, for the time being, the first option.
Yup! The cost is mounting.
Dr. Baruch's office refuses to give me the information for me to file a claim with his Medical Malpractice insurance. 
If you can believe it, I didn't even get a Get Well card from him.
He's a smooth talker, so if you are considering using him for anything other than an aspirin prescription, be forewarned.
