As a 55 female year old female with degenerative scoliosis I could not find a surgeon who could help me.  By chance I got Dr. Lowenstein’s name from an appointment I attended with my friend by her  doctor.  He immediately saw all the problems and guided me that surgery was in my best interest.  I am sure glad I did it.  He did an amazing job and I am feeling better in so many other ways that affected me with a severe scoliosis.

After many years of physical therapy and pain management for my back pain from scoliosis I was referred to Dr Lowenstein. After meeting him I knew that he was a Dr that I could trust. He listened to my concerns and answered all my questions..
After surgery for my scoliosis  I'm pain free !

Dr. Lowensein was a wonderful surgeon, my daughter was very comfortable with his explanations and expertise.  After seeing several specialists over several years, she was very confident with Dr.Lowensein. He corrected my daughters scoliosis with spinal fusion and 2 moths later she is doing very well with her recovery.  she is almost 100% independent.

I was initially diagnosed with scoliosis when I was 19 years old.  My initial surgery was performed immediately at the time of my diagnosis by a NYC surgeon who was viewed as a scoliosis “master”.  Although the surgeon was known for his mechanical surgical skills, which yes he did have, and I was considered in great hands, and did have a successful harrington rod placement surgery (and 9 months in a full torso plaster cast!)  I felt like just “another scoliosis patient”; a challenge for him to conquer.  Fast forward about 45 years, due to spinal discomfort I again was in search for a scoliosis specialist - however now add the caveat of requiring the skills of a surgeon with an expertise in scoliosis revision surgery.  
My search again led me to another surgeon, and this time in my “own backyard” in NJ,  with accolades for his extraordinary mechanical surgical skills, especially with scoliosis and with scoliosis revision surgeries.  The main difference this time was I was not made to fe

Dr. Lowenstein is the forth doctor I have seen for my condition which he was my first. I had 2 previous surgeries to help fix my neck / spine issues , no results on the first , little results on the second , major improvement on the third. It seems all the doctors knew what was wrong but not how to fix it . On my first visit with Dr. Lowenstein he looked at all my x-rays , mri's and kind of new right away what needed to be done. He explained what he saw and how to fix it. From there he and his staff made the whole process of getting ready for and the day of the surgery very easy. I am half way through my recovery and haven't felt this good in a long time. One last thing you will see him at every appointment , not many doctors do that anymore they always send in an assistant. He was there at the begging and has been there every step of the way . I would recommend him to family an friends. 

After many years of not finding the help I needed in RI, I researched spine specialists and came across Dr. Lowenstein. I have been struggling with scoliosis since my preteen years and my pain was only getting worse. Due to my age, I had been told by other specialists that I was not a good candidate for back surgery, so to hear him tell me otherwise was reassuring. Dr. Lowenstein was extremely confident that he could help me. Since the first appointment, they were accommodating and kind, working around my schedule, which was important to me since I had a three and a half hour commute. I’ve been in recovery for a little over two months now and I am extremely happy with the results. My shoulders are finally even, my hips are aligned and my back is so much straighter. Plus, I’m actually about three inches taller than I was before! Dr. Lowenstein has given me a much better quality of life and I am so thankful both for him and his entire team. Dr. Lowenstein recently performed a life changing spinal fusion surgery- 13 vertebrates in total to correct my S- shaped scoliosis .At the age of 38 I never imagined this would be my reality but it was my confidence in Dr. Lowenstein and the success of his other patients that made me realize there was no sense delaying the inevitable and I am so glad I didn’t.  At each appointment he clearly communicated my current medical state, outlined possible next steps and timelines in a way that was easily digestible and not overwhelming. He made you feel at ease. When it came to my surgery he meticulously described the procedure and what to expect for a recovery. During my hospital stay he and his team conducted several follow up visits ensuring my comfort and recovery was on track. Dr. Lowenstein is an expert in his field, meticulous and passionate about his work and prioritizes the needs of his patients. At 2 months post surgery, I am very pleased with the results and happy that I did it. 

From my first consultation to my post-surgical follow-ups, Dr. Lowenstein & his colleagues were nothing short of informative, caring, and responsive to my needs. I'm currently 3 months post-surgery and am very happy with the results. Would definitely recommend!

Dr. Lowenstein was my second opinion doctor and right away I knew he was the one that I wanted to take care of me. He is the best in his field. He has knowledge and experience. He is professional and he listens. His entire staff is warm and friendly from the ladies at the check in desk to his PA Tanya who is also compassionate and kind. There is no one that I would ever trust more than Dr. Lowenstein with something as important as my spine. 

Chances are if you are reading reviews about ortho/spine surgeons it is out of necessity. PLEASE, stop your search and call for an appt with Dr. Lowenstein. He is a kind, humble, talented, skilled perfectionist who strives for excellence, truly a consummate professional. I have had 6 surgeries over 5 yrs secondary to arthritis which rapidly deteriorated my spine, leaving it now fused from C5 thru the pelvis. Dr. Lowenstein and his PA's Tonya and Brianne work in tandem, forming a brilliant team. Both the office and hospital staff meet the high standards set by Dr. Lowenstein as evidenced by consistent expected outcomes of my surgeries. I have always received clear explanations regarding my condition as well as the pros and cons of my options including realistic expectations of each. Words are insufficient to describe my experiences with this team, including the contributions of the people who work so hard behind the scenes that allow the care to be provided.

When I got my surgery done a year ago, Dr. Lowenstein was very good at making me feel comfortable and explaining my options and the procedure to me. He kept up to date with me on my recovery process and I had no complications.

Dr. Lowenstein and his staff were wonderful.  My 17 year old daughter’s scoliosis worsened and with luck, she was still a candidate for spinal tethering.  It was a big undertaking as with most major surgery, but the outcome was worth it.  Their team coordinated everything for us and now, 6 months postoperative she’s back to being her active self.  Looking forward to another follow up exam to truly see the improvement.  From the outside, it’s evident.  Excellent surgeon and attentive staff.  

Being treated by a doctor via Workers Compensation can sometimes be an unforgettable experience for all the wrong reasons but having Dr. Jason Lowenstein as my doctor has been unforgettable for All The Right Reasons. He made sure I understood that he was doctor and not my employers. His doctor patient relations is Outstanding!! in office and bedside, with the warmest and friendliest personality along with his P.A.Tanya Lugo and the rest of the staff. They all deserve 5 Stars. I definitely recommend Dr. Lowenstein, there's nothing better than having a Great Doctor by your side as you focus on your healing and recovery.

Our son (11) had severe scoliosis and Dr Lowenstein has done a fantastic job in correcting it. He explained everything clearly before surgery and has been great with the aftercare too. Highly recommend him.

I had suffered lower back pain for years and especially the last 6 years going from Doctor to Pain Management, physical therapy and nothing was helping this constant throbbing excruciating pain on my left side. They treated me from ischial tuberosity issues, sciatica and hip bursitis. Treated with shots, drugs, physical therapy and finally Dr Lowenstein informed me the pain was from my spine and it was called spinal stenosis, but also I had scoliosis which I never knew I had. After fusion and decompression it is a miracle. He is right on the money. Everything he told me to do I followed his instructions and a year later I never felt better. I feel I got a new lease on life. Both his assistants, Tanya and Brittney were there for me every step of the way, Pre-Op and Post-Op. Through their guidance during my recovery their advice was o precise. I am now pain free very active and feel instead of 73 years old I feel 20 year old. Words cannot express my deepest gratitude. 

Our son suffered a spinal fracture at 13, likely from playing sports. It took two years for an accurate diagnosis, but once we knew what it was, we began searching for a surgeon to repair the injury. Dr. Lowenstein was recommended by multiple experts. Once contacted he immediately took on our case. The consultations about what the surgery entailed were detailed and accurate -- even the recovery time was described in exact detail. The surgery was successful and now our son is back playing high school sports, including competing in the state tennis tournament as a 16 year old. We cannot thank Dr. Lowenstein and his wonderful staff enough. He changed our lives and rescued our son from constant pain.

About 5 months ago I received lumbar surgery for a herniated disc in my back. And it saved me and my quality of life. For about 7 months I was dealing with excruciating and debilitating back and sciatica nerve pain down my leg, from the disc pinching it. I was seeing a orthopedic doctor at the time who was feeding me pain pills and kept telling me to wait, do the physical therapy and it'll get better. I held off for 7 MONTHS! To the point where I couldn't sit still for an extended period of time, couldn't drive, couldn't stand straight, or work/exercise pain free. My quality of life was nothing it felt like. I was referred to Dr. Lowenstein from some random guy at my gym that overheard me telling a friend about my back and that was the most influential day of my life. I am 5 months post op, completely pain free, was back to lifting light weight by month 2 and have my life back!! I have been going to Dr. Lowenstein for a few years now and am never disappointed with how long I need to wait and my interaction with Dr. Lowenstein.  He is very knowledgeable and really listens to my needs and concerns and answers them realistically taking all we discussed into account. I would highly recommend Dr. Lowenstein!


Tried everything to resolve my nerve pain issues and was told that I could no longer be helped. I came to Dr. Lowenstein with severe nerve pain and he has essentially rebuilt my spine and promised improvement.  I know it's different for everyone, but my nerve pain has been reduced by at least 90%. I no longer walk with a cane. I cannot tell you how much this has impacted and improved my quality of life. Dr Lowenstein and his staff were very accommodating to my daughter through pre and post-Op. The staff were very thorough in explaining every step on the procedure. They made us feel comfortable and reassured us through the process. All my concerns during my daughter's hospital stay were always a priority. We were confident with their knowledge and care. I had come to learn in my late 50's that I pretty bad scoliosis among other serious back diseases. It got to the point where it was so incredibly painful and twisting my body -- I had to do something. My good friend Dru recently had a similar surgery with Dr. Lowenstein in Morristown. So I went to see Dr. Jason Lowenstein. I felt as though I was in good hands the moment I walked in. His staff is amazing. Everyone made me feel comfortable. When the doc saw my x-rays it was a no-brainer -- it had to be operated on.The surgery went really well and Dr. Lowenstein was awesome. He fused my spine from S1 to T9 and I got back my height back...and my life back! Recovery can be tough at times as is expected, but Dr. Lowenstein and his team are there for you every step of the way. I highly recommend Dr. Lowenstein and his great team for your spine surgery. Now I'm riding my mountain bikes, hiking with my dog, and feeling great!
