Dr. John Strasswimmer, MD, FAAD

My father is 95 years old and has been seeing Dr. Strasswimmer for ongoing treatments, including surgical procedures, for basal and squamous cell carcinomas. At each appointment Dr. Strasswimmer and his staff have been thorough and kind. They have earned our family's trust and sincere gratitude.  

The most knowledgeable doctor that treats each patient with the respect! 

Dr. Strasswimmer is the best Dermotologist I have ever been to.  He spends real time discussing the procedure he is going to do, explaining what he has done, and confirming his diagnosis with other experts.  I recommend him without reservation!

Dr Strasswimmer has been my husband’s Mohs dermatologist for 16 years. His credentials are superior, his experience in the best medical centers in the country. Most important, he has been totally dedicated to the welfare of my husband. He takes his time, is always very thorough, is kind and friendly. The staff is highly professional runs a very organized office system. Highly recommend Dr Strasswimmer.
A very welcome addition is Dr Smirnov, whom we’ve both seen for general dermatologic issues and complete body check and cosmetic treatment. Very friendly and very knowledgeable.

I was very thankful because this was the best team of medical staff I experienced in long time! The Doctor was terrific! he took care of me with a noticed professionalism, answered all my questions and made feel I was in good hands. I loved visiting and I highly recommend this office!! Awful.  Dr, Strasswimmer may have excellent credentials but he is an arrogant boar with limited patient interactive skills.  He actually walked out on me in the middle of a question I was asking--this was quite deliberate as I called him back.  He speaks to you through his nurse.  A disgrace to his profession.

The staff was very helpful and compassionate. Dr. Strasswimmer took time to chat with us and explained exactly what was needed to my husband, who was having the Moh's surgery on the side of his  face.  He did not rush us, was very professional in an amicable manner. The result is perfect, the man is a highly competent surgeon, the episode had no drama or negative connotation whatsoever. Same experience as many! Treated like a number, Had door slammed in my face twice by the Nurse. Nurse was SUPER CONTROLLING! Doctor made excuses. I have never experienced something so bad in my life!  The Nurse treats people as a number and she has no consequences.

My husband and I both have had wonderful experiences. His surgery had to be very close to his eye. Dr Strasswimmer did an amazing job. There is no scar. Gratefully his eye was not cut into, but it was so close. And today you would not believe he ever had a problem.
My surgery seemed to be most of my cheek, but Dr. Strasswimmer's skill is incredible. The whole experience is something you can handle.
This doctor does not forget to smile. He is caring and kind. We were blessed to have him.

Large 2 1/2" scar after removing small basal cell on left chin under my lip. Apparently he likes to play with his laser. Long waiting times. Rude staff. Neglected to inform me that I had an antibiotic prescribed after surgery. Would not have known unless the Publix pharmacy called 3 days later. Good thing I used triple-A ointment at home. Screwed up my follow-up date and blamed it on their automated system after I missed work. Avoid this place unless you want to look like Frankenstein's cousin.

Three years ago I had a PIN DROP SIZE basal cell carcinoma under my right eye and had Dr. Strasswimmer perform Mohs surgery.  There was an assembly line of  patients.  I felt like my face was being sewed up at break-neck speed like a burlap sack.  I was shown the cut BEFORE stitching - the size of a pencil eraser.  When I removed bandages I was stunned to see a glaring, crooked 4" scar running down to my lips.  He said it would disappear in a year.  Three years later it is still very prominent. 

Our family has been seeing Dr. Strasswimmer going on the second decade now.  From the time you enter the office with his staff Who actually seen the doctor is truly a professional experience. Our family highly recommends dermatology Associates of the Palm Beaches Delray office for all your dermatology and skin care needs.

My husband had Moh’s surgery here - after several similar surgeries in our home state. He will never go back to this arrogant, uncommunicative, impatient man.  His office staff was unhelpful at best, giving conflicting information  at each follow-up visit.  (4 post-op visits in the past 8 days, and we were never given specific written post-op directions initially. ) The office is much too small to accommodate the all the patients scheduled, and the wait time was over an hour at each visit.   No one in this office listens!

A very unfortunate experience.  Seemed uncaring.  My situation was "difficult and complicated" so he ABANDONDED me!  Recommended a doctor that doesn't do what I needed.  When I asked for other referrals I got ZIP!

Dr. Strasswimmer's office staff are incompetent.   When you have lousy staffing, the questions below are irrelevant.

MOHs surgery had begun and my husband started feeling ill and Dr. Strasswimmer started yelling at me his wife that he did not have time for this.  He was rude miserable and a horrible surgeon.  My husband was finally able to leave the office and he was in terrible pain the whole night.  We have been through many MOHs surgeries in Pennsylvania and the experience here was awful.   Even the attending nurse quit within the week.  He never had such severe pain after any of his other surgeries!

Awful experience! Came back after consult to have scouting biopsies for my 86 yr old mother. Waited 1 1/2 hrs then was told to go get lunch and come back in an hour. Waited another hour only to have him say he couldn't help my mother because she couldn't lay on her stomach long enough for him to do what he needed to do. I guess he can't adjust the way he works based on the poor physical condition of his patients. Got the feeling he didn't want to treat mom. Just brushed us off! Stay away!

If you value your life, avoid this horrible place!!!
The doctor and staff spent more time convincing me not to get stitches than it would have taken to stitch up the large hole in my leg from Moh's. So after 4 months of cleaning out the quarter sized hole in my leg everyday (instead of the two weeks if they had stitched it) I am left with a hideous scar that never healed right. It is still painful to the touch a year and a half later. Thanks to Dr. Strasswimmer for making me feel like a number..

My 90 year old mom had many visits with Dr. Strasswimmer. We had positive visits with him until we didn’t. Our last visit he was rude, didn’t answer our questions and abruptly left the exam room before we had our questions answered. All because we believe he was offended we asked for a plastic surgeon to work with after removing melanoma. He proposed to remove half of my mom’s upper lip. Why wouldn’t we want a plastic surgeon to give us the best possible outcome? And why wouldn’t he be interested in the patients best outcome and not his feelings? It’s not about him. It’s about the patient. Also he asked if my mom had poor health and insinuated if she did to just let her live with the melanoma. Not an option. My mom is an active 90 year old. We will never go back. 

My 95 year old father is undergoing a continuing series of Mohs surgery procedures for skin cancer lesions. We feel so lucky to have found Dr. Strasswimmer. At every appointment he is thorough and kind, taking time to explain 
and reassure. His credentials and experience are top-of-the top. We highly recommend (and thank) Dr. Strasswimmer and his office staff.

Unprofessional, Rude, and a shame to the Medical Profession!!

  I've used Dr. Strasswimmer several times over the past 10 years and often defended him to my friends who have either experienced or heard many negatives about him and his staff.  I had a 9am appt.  The good doctor appeared to see me at 9:30.  He asked a few questions and then never looked me in the eye again, preferring to talk through his nurse rather than to me directly.  I persisted, trying to understand the nature and length of my treatment and his goals for therapy and expected results.   In the middle of one of my questions, Dr. S. stood up and started to walk out of the exam room.  I protested saying, " I'm trying to talk with you," but he continued to exit through the door on to the next "victim."  I was speechless--I've never even heard of a physician acting in this manner, let alone experienced it myself. 
Unfortunately your rating system requires that I give him at least one star.  Go elsewhere for treatment!!
