I called in to schedule an appointment for a dental implant and the receptionist was rude; it was mostly her tone. She asked me if my referring dentist took sufficient x-rays such as a panoramic x-ray. I explained to her that my dentist has done quite a few procedures, so an x-ray was done.

Obviously, I am not a dental professional, and don't know what type of x-ray was done and to ask the way she did in my opinion was inappropriate. Then she asked for my zip code, which I think was also weird!

Once I call my dentist to get another referral for an oral surgeon, I will call back and cancel my appointment. I will send my $3,000 out of pocket money elsewhere.

I was really scared & nervous because of past experiences with dentists.But my oral surgeon Dr. Tien reassured me everything would be fine. I have never came out of a dentist office wanting to smile,but because of my procedure I couldn't smile two thumbs up  Dr.Tien you're the best I would let him work on my mouth any time.I live over an hour away from office but it was well worth the trip & I would do it again.You have a pleasant staff & I thank everyone involved.

Would highly recommend! Dr Tien was so nice and welcoming. He thoroughly explained the treatment plan and reasons for his suggestions with much thought and care. His staff were all very friendly as well!

No BS, presented in an educated and gentle way.  Felt like talking to a trusted friend. Honest and transparent. Great guy, answered all my questions thoroughly with patience.

Dr. Tien is a life saver. Him and his team has great bead side manners.  The office is beautiful, state of the art equipment.  
Dr. Tien took time to thoroughly explain the procedure and to make sure I knew the possible side affects.  I though it was really nice that him and team checked on me after my surgery.  The world needs more great doctors like Dr. Tien and his team.  

Luckily we found Dr. Tien's office through a recommendation and I was totally impressed. Dr. Tien and his team resolved my dental issues quickly and thoroughly. It's never nice to have to undergo major dental work, especially during Covid (in another city than the one you live in!) but everything could not have gone better. They took an x-ray and told me what they recommended in a clear, kind way and were able to do extractions that same day. The office is super clean and the team made everything go as smoothly as possible during the operation. Highly recommend, thank you Dr. Tiens!

Dr. Tien met me, did an examination, and had pulled all four of my very problematic wisdom teeth within 2.5 hours. His office was impeccably clean and his entire staff had full PPE, as did he. I cannot recommend him enough—he was spot on about my recovery, called to check up on me, and saved me from a creeping infection and abscess that I had no idea I had. He's wonderful!!

They were super cool and patient. They got me all the information that I needed and answered my questions. The entire staff from the front desk to the doctors are amazing and helpful.  10/10 recommend! 

I feel very well taken care of and picked the best doctor in DC. Especially for a complex procedure (impacted canine tooth, baby tooth removal and bone graft).

I needed multiple extractions, bone grafts & implants and was absolutely devistated. Dr. Tien made me feel so comfortable and his staff was so welcoming. The whole experience actually ended up being a pleasure. I had very little pain and Dr. Tien even called to check on my the night of my surgery. My treatment was perfectly coordinated with my general dentist, I didn't have to worry a bit. I now have my final crowns and am as happy as a clam! 

I had 3 teeth extracted. It was so well done by Dr. Tien that I never felt pain at all. The heating process was the same. I was prescribed healing medication for a week and although there was a minimum of inflammation for a couple of hours, there was absolutely no discomfort. I highly recommend Dr. Tien and his staff. It was a very positive experience for me.

Dr. Tien was really attentive in explaining my procedure and walking me through after-core instructions. He called me the day after the extractions to make sure everything was proceeding normally, and took all of my questions. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Tien, very caring and everything with the extraction went smoothly.

They truly made me feel comfortable from the beginning to the end of the process. I was in & out of the surgical chair & did not feel a thing.. except for the pain of swelling afterwards. Dr. Tien even called me that night to check up on me! How cool & considerate is that? I will totally recommend him to my family, friends, colleagues... even strangers!

Service was outstanding! Dr. Tien is very professional and answered all my questions. Made me feel very comfortable and relaxed about my surgery. I 100% recommend him!!

Because I work in healthcare I understand the struggle to provide superior customer service. With that being said my standards are pretty high, but this office surpased my standards. Everyone was friendly, professional, articulate and well spoken. This is a rarity in healthcare, kudos to the staff and Dr. Tien. I have recommended that my dentist refer other patients to Dr. Tien.

I had teeth extracted so I could get a denture. Dr. Tien was so very nice and really took his time with me. The staff treated me like family and the office is so lovely.

Dr. Niven Tien is a very personable and caring dentist.  He explained and helped me understand the procedure. My tooth extract he performed was painless and Dr. Tien made a follow up call to make sure there was no problem.  The Assistants and Office staff were polite, efficient and friendly.  I would strongly recommend Dr. Tien to anyone looking for a new dentist.

This might be a good place to get dental work done, but only if money is no object, and clear and consistent communication is no object either. What I was told orally about billing and insurance never matched what actually happened. I was given an estimate in which I was supposed to pay 2700 dollars, and insurance would cover another 1000. It was surprising to me that I’d have to pay so much out of pocket, since I had two active dental insurance policies. But orally, they reassured me that this was the official estimate, but probably a larger chunk would be reimbursed. After the procedure, weeks passed…I heard nothing about a refund. I looked at my insurance statements online, and saw that even less was covered than the estimate. I called the DC Surgical Arts Office, and got vague reassurances that they had to wait and see, and it often took months. Before my appointment to check on the procedure, I still had gotten no refund, so I sent a lengthy email asking for clarification of my bi

Dr. Tien provided me with a year of care for a tooth extraction and implant. My outcome is excellent and I couldn't have asked for better treatment. Dr. Tien is an expert oral surgeon and very personable and caring, always making sure I was comfortable and procedures were painless, and patiently answering any questions. I could always trust his expertise and skill. Thanks to Dr. Tien and his team, my oral surgery & implant experience was actually pleasant! I always knew I was in the best hands.

BUYER beware:
Dr Tien's fee schedule was actually more than double a comparable practice. Unfortunately, you will be charged hundreds of dollars just  meeting  with them before you will understand their charges.  I am sure they are competent clinically, but for routing matters if you want better value, shop around. I had other issues with the practice, but the tipping point was cost.  I learned the hard way. $290 to cancel his services once learning their fee structure and meeting with them.

I was a bit nervous to have my wisdom teeth pulled, as I had never been placed under anesthesia. Dr. Tien was incredibly patient and walked me through the details of the procedure. The procedure was completed quickly and I felt minimal pain in recovery. The first evening, my blood clot actually came out of the suture and the bleeding had continued for quite some time. Dr. Tien reached out to me right away, after midnight, with instructions on how to solve the issue. I was very impressed by his accessibility and professionalism. Would highly recommend!

Dr Tien, Billy and the entire team are great. I received full explanations and open support. Dr Tien returned my calls twice to answer questions. Great team although very expensive but worth it. No real pressure. 

Being a child raised in the ‘60’s where dentists were scary …this experience w 2 implants was smooth, calming (as best  as possible w drilling into my jawbone), and I’m giving staff and especially Dr Tien (AKA Mr Enthusiasm) a 5 star ?? 

Dr Tien was helpful, friendly & skillful. Good at explaining procedures. Great staff too. 

Technically a good dentist.
However, billing is terrible and his pay schedule is at least double the normal.  You have to prepay them first, and they will claim they will reimburse you once they get paid from the insurance.  So far I haven't got reimbursed after 3 months.
It was 1000 dollars per wisdom tooth CASH.
