Dr. Sylvia Medley

Dr Medley is a great doctor. I had a Saturday appointment which most doctor don’t have any more. She listens to my concerns and make sure I have all the medications and referral I need before leave. She has a great bedside manner and love having her for my doctor

Knowledgeable, friendly MD.  Probably sped thru a tad quickly but overall a good MD.  Staff were all very friendly and nice, clean office and no wait time. Would definitely recommend.

I was reluctant to go here after reading some recent reviews online. However, Dr. Medley could not have been a more professional or kind physician. I feel very fortunate to have her as my primary care doctor, and was very impressed with everyone at the MedStar Capitol Hill group.

Staff were well organized and efficient.  I arrived quite early to get paperwork done, so that helped.  The office was very busy, so it did take a while to see Dr., but not an unreasonable time based on how packed the waiting area was when I left.   Dr. Medley gave me her full attention, carefully reviewed my history, listened to my concerns and gave me clear instructions.  Excellent.

Grateful Dr. Medley was so willing to listen and hear me out!

I absolutely LOVE Dr. Medley!  I have been medically serviced by Washington Care Primary Associates for close to 20 years.  I have seen numerous changes, including doctor and staff transitions, system upgrades, office renovations, etc.

First, I arrived about 30 minutes early.  So, I was called back within five minutes.  After all the preliminary asks and and testing (weight, height, temperature, blood pressure), Dr. Medley enters.  Her demeanor is refreshing.  She comes in with this big smile, greets you immediately and gives you a solid handshake.

I loved how she made sure I was comfortable and okay before getting started.  She had already reviewed my medical information and started asking questions.  She was not intrusive and made sure to repeat what I said for confirmation.  Dr. Medley did not rush me.  She allowed me to ask questions and gave me time to process her answers.

Lastly, she gave me thorough physical exam.  She has a light touch.  Dr. Medley is definitely respectful of the human body and spirit.

After the exam, she came back with referrals and explained the necessity of each one.  She reviewed all the paperwork and then escorted me to the patient check out.

She is FANTASTIC!

Worst doctor I have ever had. I almost never write reviews because everyone has bad days and stuff happens, but this experience has been that bad repeatedly for almost two weeks. I feel like my doctor does not care about me, has actively ignored me for over a week, and ultimately has negatively impacted my health. The story is below if you want more information.

I brought up that the only reason I established care was because I was new to the area and needed my prescriptions to be filled and my doctors halfway across the country couldn't do it due to licensing. She said she wanted to do blood work, but didn't bring up an issue with either med. So 9 days before my prescription ran out, I message her through the online portal to ask for a refill. I get no response. A week goes by and I call the office. She isn't there, but they add a note and resend my message. The next day at noon I still haven't heard anything. I call the office again. She is with a patient, so again they add a note and resend. She finally answers and the response is about five words saying she is giving me a referral to a specialist. This is fine, but I mentioned that I was about to be out of the daily medication, meaning I will have to go weeks with out it probably before I can get in anywhere. I send a message immediately back saying that I need at least one refill to get me through until I can get in somewhere, still no reply. A few hours later, I called the office since I hadn't heard a response back from my note. They couldn't find the doctor but promise me a reply about a refill. I don't get one and the next day I run out of medication. I try to call again on Monday. The doctor isn't in, no one else can prescribe it without an appointment, they can't get me an appointment, and they don't know where I could go to get it prescribed. So after work I will be heading to a pharmacy to get an emergency dose (thank you google for letting me know I can do this), and I will be calling for a sixth time tomorrow morning.

First time and very pleased.  Felt safe and in capable care.

Dr. Medley was very friendly, but asked no questions of me/made no recommendations/provided no guidance when I answered "when was last period" with "It's been many months; I think I've begun menopause...maybe?" She did an extremely brief exam and when I asked questions at "the end" (because I was shocked that it was "the end" since she had spent basically NO time with me, a new patient) she was very rushed in her responses. Would never go back to or recommend a doctor who was so disinterested in her patient.

She always takes the time to listen to my concerns. 

Medley is by far the best... Truly amazing, caring and genuine 

She might be good with immediate concerns like cold, flu, etc-for typical PCP concerns. However, she disapproved of me setting up an appointment to establish her as my primary care doctor. I did so in hopes someone could help navigate me from specialist to specialist etc, and for an in-medstar referral. She provided the referral but my ultimate goal was to find a PCP to help me manage and coordinate care between specialists for a complex illness, and she wasn’t comfortable with that. If you are in a similar boat, I would suggest a different PCP.

Spent very little time with me in the room. I had to call her back in from the doorway, because we hadn't finished talking about everything I came in for - even the things on my sheet.

The front receptionist are area was moving extremely slowly. The problem is that no one acknowledged me until I stood up to ask what was going on.  I saw my doctor leave for the day and I was still sitting in the waiting area for blood work. I was so confused because it was only myself and one other woman waiting at the time. 
My appointment was at 3.. I was done with my physical before 4pm.Great !
Why did it take another hour to get quick bloodwork done and my summary report printed when it was only two patients around 4pm.
They need a better system of keeping patients in correct order for wait time. 
Other than that I loved Dr. Medley! 

Dr. Medley is thorough, knowledgeable, and empathetic.  She will take the time to explain things and answer questions.

Dr. Medley was kind, attentive, and quick. She is an excellent family physician.
