Dr Sistrunk was referred to me by a friend two years ago. Its been my pleasure to have her as my primary care provider. She’s very professional and provides excellent medical care. Dr. Sistrunk is well versed in her field of medicine.

Great bedside manner. Very knowledgeable and professional. Would definitely recommend!  

Very short with me and she had an accusatory tone during our visit. Mind you, it was a new patient visit. I would not feel comfortable seeing this doctor again.

Dr. Sistrunk is very attentive, asks good questions and listens to the answers with follow-up questions as necessary.  Plus she has a sense of humor!

Dr. Sistrunk came highly recommended.  She is thorough. She did a great job of explaining my concerns and answering my questions. The appointment did not seem rushed Ian’s I left pleased with the experience.  Office was clean, Covid protocols were respected. 

She is terrific.  Very informative, and her diagnosis and prescription for a  bad burn helped tremendously!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Sistrunk for 21 years!  She is amazing, found my Thyroid cancer, came in extra early when I was first seeing her after I was in the ER so she could see me. And that was when I first met her. Always works extra hard to figure out what’s going on-super smart and knowledgeable. Listens to your concerns.  I literally cried when she moved away from  the area, when another doctor told me she moved back I screamed with joy. I travel over an hour just to see her. 

Very nice, understanding the best primary doctor you can have. 

Very meticulous and detailed, has conversations about me and my health.

Dr. Sistrunk is very professional,  yet friendly, and made me feel totally at ease and comfortable.  The appointment also didnt feel rushed, and she listened thoroughly to my concerns.  She is definitely going to be my GP going forward 

There was  scheduling problem, resulting  in a 40 minutes conflict in the actual time of my scheduled appointment and what the doctor's nurse or assistant had.   The nurse said that my appointment was scheduled for 9AM,  when in fact it was 9:40 AM.   I arrived within  the time grace period. 
I was told by the nurse  that I had to reschedule or have a two hour wait  before being seen by the doctor.  With assistance from the  Practice Manger, I was seen by the doctor. My overall visit with the doctor was satisfactory. 

She listened to what I had to say and was thorough. Attentive & competent. Great care & service.

I didn't wait very long either in the front office to sign in, to get called back, and once in the exam room, I also didn't wait very long to be seen. Dr. Sistrunk was very nice and helpful and the rest of the staff were also great!

Greatly appreciated that she was looking at me - not typing answers on a computer - listened to my answers and asked good follow-up questions.  It was also clear she had reviewed my previous medical records which facilitated our discussion and gave me confidence that she was treating me as an individual.

There was a slight delay in the waiting room to check in, and perhaps it would have helped to have the check-in person acknowledge my arrival....or at a minimum have a sign-in sheet.

The doctor yelled (seriously) at me repeated to speak louder, snapped at me when I struggled to define the symptoms of my months-long sinus infection (oh the holidays), refused to believe me when I described my medical allergies and history taking antibiotics, and didn't tell me her diagnosis or explain the treatment. Instead she sent someone else in to give me my prescription and I was sent on my way.

I will not be seeing Dr. Sistrunk again. I do not recommend her.

Shyrl was great and very attentive. Although the office itself is a mess. I had to leave without doing my blood test because the wait was way too long

Dr Sistrunk is a true professional. Her bedside manner was great. She LISTENS intently to ALL you have going on. She not only offers professional help, but also outside community help. She's a lifesaver. A one in a million out of a treasure box. Absolutely the BEST!

Dr. Sistrunk is always professional and extremely thorough (Gold Star standard type of thorough). I find her easy to talk to and have trusted her with my care for several decades. Would definitely recommend her to family and friends.

This is the second time I've seen Dr. Sistrunk, to whom I am relatively new because the physician in the practice who was my doctor left.  The first was a "sick" visit and I found her very thorough so returned for a full physical with her.  I again appreciated what felt like a very thorough examination and inquiry into my health.  I also found her to be incredibly prompt and efficient.  The whole office staff is very nice and I will continue to go back to Dr. Sistrunk.

From the start to finish of my appointment, Dr. Sistrunk and her team treated me very well. The receptionist was friendly and communicated clearly, as did the intake nurse. Dr. Sistrunk was indeed very thorough in both her initial questions (I'm a new patient) and with the physical exam. I felt like I was in the hands of an experienced professional who was willing to take the time to conduct a detailed exam, but didn't waste my time with too much chit-chat or needless waiting. I will certainly return!

I learned that I cannot be late!! She is very thorough! I feel like she takes her job and her patients very seriously. 

The staff other than the doctor were delightful and helpful.  A woman came in very stressed about traffic and was running late and a young lady from the office really calmed her down and helped her relax.

She asked a lot of medical questions which was good. She checked me from head to toe.

Dr. Sistrunk wasn't the "warmest" doctor I have ever encountered but she was knowledgeable and thorough and I'll take smart doctor over a friendly one any day. The building is confusing to find and get into but once you're inside, the facility is your pretty standard DC doc office. No frills...but they get you in and out in a timely manner.

This was my first visit with Dr. Sistrunk. She was very thorough and communicated well - much better than other doctors I've seen. Staff was very courteous and office seemed well organized - more so than in the past when I have been there. 

Once I found the office entrance, the experience was great. However, the address of 650 Pennsylvania Ave. SE had me walking up and down the avenue, going in and out of doors looking for Suite #100. The entrance is actually on 7th street about 3-4 doors north of Pennsylvania Ave. It is labelled 650 Pennsylvania Ave. one you find it. Crazy but true.

My visit with Dr. Sistrunk was fine - but let's be clear: this is a geriatric care facility.  The staff (and the other patients also waiting) didn't seem to know why I was at the office.  I am in my late twenties and had booked an appointment for a women's wellness annual exam, so the atmosphere made things uncomfortable as soon as I arrived in the waiting room.  I had what I thought was a usual STD panel taken, but 3 months later, I received a STEEP bill in the mail from the lab testing facility for a test I had not been made aware of, nor consented to - and I have never even heard of the condition it was testing for!  I'm not allowed to share the value of this bill on here, but it was NOT covered by my otherwise solid insurance from a major provider.  I have been unable to discuss this issue with anyone at Dr. Sistrunk's office, and have left messages both to a voice mailbox and with a receptionist who said I would receive a call back.  This call still has not come.  I now have a collection agency on me due to what was supposed to be a regular, preventative annual exam.  Some assistance would be appreciated.

First visit with the doctor and liked her a great deal. 

I was given the shingles vaccination during my visit but, was not given any information regarding possible side effects. I had a horrible allergic reaction that could have been handled better had I been informed of any possible side effects by the doctor. A pamphlet, handout, something!!!

Dr. Sistrunk was very thorough and pleasant.

She puts her patients at ease with her calm and her manner of explaining medical terminology. She’s extremely punctual, follows up, and very factual and knowledgeable.

Dr Sistrunk was very thorough which I greatly appreciated. 

Annual physical. I was 10 minutes late - my fault. I called ahead to let the office know, they just asked for my name and said okay. Nothing said at check-in. Nothing said by the nurse that did height/weight. When the Dr came in, she said I "missed half the appointment" and she didn't have time to do the whole physical but could do a sick visit (I have a cold). I told her I was 10 minutes late but that no one told me there wouldn't be time for the physical and that I didn't want to do a sick visit (don't need to pay anyone to tell me I need fluids and rest). Her attitude was very negative, as if she was doing me a favor by even letting me through the door. She proceeded to rush through the physical - if I tried to explain my answers or give background info, she cut me off and proceeded to the next question. She never explained anything she was doing or gave me a chance to ask questions - she literally walked away when she was done without asking if I had anything else to go over and I had to stop her by telling her I still had some things to discuss. She stood in the doorway and acted so bothered to have to give me another few minutes because "she already did the physical". I had to ask her to close the door to the room because I was still sitting there in the patient gown with my back exposed. Horrible professionalism and behavior. I know I was late - I don't deny it. If this was the way she was going to behave, she should have stopped the appointment at the very beginning and told me to reschedule. 

Also, I was never told that I needed to fast for the bloodwork. The nurse (who was the best person in the office) was not surprised by this so I assume it happens often.

Do not recommend this doctor at all.

It was thorough and fine. The doctor kept up the pace but made it clear I was welcome to provide whatever feedback and ask whatever questions I had. She was professional yet courteous and aware of the vulnerable nature of a physical exam.

She and the nurse were great, very thorough.  The front desk could work on their check in/check out systems.  Lots of standing and sitting and standing again.  Felt unfriendly.

I have so much faith in Dr. Sistrunk. She is such a caring person and so detailed. She I a very careful listener before coming up with a diagnosis, and discusses her recommendation for treatment so that I could understand thoroughly what would happen and any negative effect. 

From the moment I walked in to reception to the minute I walked out, I only experienced warmth, kindness, professionalism, and perfection. Dr. Sistrunk is very thorough, very understanding, an intent listener, and offers sound advice. I'm 65 years of age.....in all my years, I've never been more satisfied with a doctor. She will continue to be my doctor, no more searching for me. I'm very pleased. 

Without a doubt, the most efficient and pleasant doctor's office I have yet to visit! From the wait time (less than 5 minutes!) to the nurses and phlebotomists, to Dr. Sistrunk: professional, pleasant, knowledgeable and gave thorough explanations. As an added bonus, sense of humor abounded!

She is so thorough and knowledgeable.  I wish to continue in her care.

When I visit, it is obvious that she has read notes from other doctors that I have visited because of their specialty.  This then helps her make better decisions in my treatment. My first time requesting appointment through ZocDoc and they were not aware of my appointment. I suggest following up with MedStar directly to confirm, which sort of defeats the purpose of using ZocDoc.

The in-office visit was okay.  The checkin attendant, Brittany was excellent and professional and the doctor's assistance Lenia (?) was wonderful.  Dr. Sistrunk does not exhibit good bedside manners.  She could use some coaching in this area.

She was very direct, but I also felt as though she was judgemental and far too brisk toward me.  I didn’t appreciate the way she spoke to me and do think her bedside manner was far from pleasant. I felt more comfortable with the nurse staff.

I reviewed my first visit to the office as unsatisfactory (because it was) but I had to go back today to follow up on tests and it was much better. Maybe I caught the office on an off day the first time around. The annual physical she gave me was thorough, she asked good questions and I'm satisfied that I'm as healthy as I feel. 

My first appointment at her office was last week and I agree with other reviewers--the intake and reception process is garbage. I'd already filled out my forms here on Zocdoc but somehow, a staff member failed to input them into the system, so I stood and stood and stood at the window while the receptionist did it manually. That made me late for my appointment and the doctor acted like it was my fault. Nursing assistants then called me back to the examination area from the waiting room three separate times for height and weight, and urine and blood samples. I get really annoyed when businesses aren't organized (or friendly, which they ain't either). If I can keep my own personal life stuff together, I would think a fully staffed office would be able to come up with an efficient, well-run system.

I like Dr. Sistrunk very much and I think she does a thorough physical but I think the reception staff is consistently very unwelcoming and unfriendly. I don't believe I'll be going back to this practice just because of how rude the reception staff is. I mean--how can you be looking angry at the world already at the first appointment of the day? 

I have seen this provider once before and I am not impressed, her office is convenient for me and she performs the task of a physical BUT they have serious scheduling issues. Each time I have requested a physical I have been turned away because the system only set aside an appointment for treatment considered to be 20 minutes of my time.  This has happened through ZocDoc And regular scheduling. They always offer to take blood or something simple- so it feels like they are taking money and then I have to return for the real appointment for them to take more money.  It’s a mess there and the office doesn’t look clean or feel nice. With all of the negatives about the office and my indifference about the medical care received, I wouldn’t recommend this practice. 

Very professional and clearly cares about you. But very poor bedside manner. Found her to be judgmental and not that pleasant. Also, by the end, it seemed liked she didn’t want to answer my questions and just wanted to get me out of her office.

I had an annual physical with Dr. Sistrunk. She was very thorough, kind, and took her time with me. She provided me with recommendations for the future and made me feel like she cared! Also, her receptionist was very kind and called a few days before the appointment to go over the ZocDoc papers and give me directions. I would recommend Dr. Sistrunk and her staff!
